Champion Merrydancer Naughty Nancy
Our lovely tawny Ocicat girl
Nancy has the most wonderful affectionate character, wanting nothing more than to be with us 24 hours a day. She loves to play,
especially if it involves chasing, leaping or "killing" something - or somebody!
Her agility is amazing, and we're constantly surprised
by the height she can reach when jumping. She is also our alarm clock, jumping at the handle to open our bedroom door
about five minutes before the alarm each day - however, she has yet to learn about weekends!
Not only is she agile, affectionate and intelligent, she's also a lovely looking cat.
At her first show, the Lincoln Championship, she won her Open and qualified for the Supreme. Since then she has been to 2 more shows, having "Red Card Days"
at both, winning not only her Open but all of her side classes too. We have Chris & Derek Hughes to thank for entrusting us with
such a lovely girl. Chris also took the photos above (Nancy at 9 weeks killing a toy mouse) and to the right (Nancy at 12 weeks showing
off her beautiful spotty belly).
Her best friend is Ellie, one of our Maus, and they are rarely far apart. Their games are very rough
but they both thoroughly enjoy them, and curl up together afterwards.
This photo was taken recently and shows one of those rare
moments when Nancy is actually still - without being asleep! She is a wonderful family cat, as happy playing with the kids when they visit as she is with us. I'd never heard of
Ocicats when we started our hunt for a special breed, but they sounded like the sort of cat we would really enjoy - and
Nancy has exceeded all our expectations.
Nancy paid her first visit to the Supreme Cat Show on the 25th November. Although she was only 9 months and 3 days old she won her Open,
Best of Breed and was awarded her first Challenge Certificate. Her critique from the judge included the comments "Beautiful type girl with a lovely wild look" and "Lovely colour, bright and shining, super spotting" as well as
commenting on her "Excellent temperament". Her first litter with Inca was gorgeous and their second litter is due in October.
We took Nancy to the Lincolnshire Cat Club Show on July 14th, where she won her Open, BOB and gained her second Challenge Certificate. She also did very well in some very big side classes, as well as thoroughly enjoying her day,
and introducing some new people to the delights of the Ocicat as she made friends with anyone who stopped to talk to her.
At the Lancashire Cat Club Show on March 8th 2008 Nancy won her 3rd CC and became a Champion! She also took BOB, and did well in her side classes, including Best Foreign Aristocrat. She loves showing so much that I may have to let her try for Grand Champion as well.
Champion Aalspotz Lorna Doone
Another lovely tawny Ocicat girl
We never intended to keep another Tawny girl, but fate stepped in and Doonie stayed. She is going to be a big girl,
she has lovely markings and type, and her Mum's affectionate and playful personality. She is very agile, jumping high into the air for toys, and has the lovely "wild" walk of her dad, always attracting attention from visitors.
I have taken her to three show so far, and she won her CC at each, also being placed in some large side classes (one had 15 cats, including British and Burmese). She is now a Champion, at the age of 13 months.
Chocolatedot Humbug
Our beautiful Ebony Silver Ocicat girl
Humbug is the daughter of CFA Grand Champion Sunstone Watusi, a very handsome lilac boy who came over from America in 2007.
Her mother is Merrydancer Jenkka, the sister of Nancy, so Bug is closely related to our own girls. She had a litter by Inca last year, giving Kerry, her breeder, four lovely boys. Kerry has decided to take a break from breeding, so Bug has come to join our family. We will be mating her to Inca again soon, and this time hoping for some girls
- if there is a pretty Chocolate Silver she is definitely staying here!
Bug has settled in well, surprisingly becoming friends with Bakara, who has always been a bit of a loner, so it is lovely to see them together. Bug is a very typical Ocicat, full of fun, always purring or playing, and a pleasure to be around. Thank you Kerry, for such a lovely cat!
