Newkingdom Livia

Silver Egyptian Mau

Sire: Newkingdom Mithril
Dam: Panton Lucretia

Livvy is a very elegant cat, with the perfect "worried" expression and gooseberry green eyes that all Maus should have. She has a very pale silver background with charcoal grey spotting - unfortunately she never darkened up enough to have the contrast required for the show bench.

She was bred by Melissa Bateson, who introduced the Egyptian Mau into the UK, and we waited many months for a suitable girl to be our foundation queen. Although she has only had 3 small litters her kittens have all been beautiful.

She is very gentle, and avoids the rough and tumble games that the other cats indulge in, although she loves to play quieter games with people instead. She adores being fussed, and as soon as we talk to her she arches her back and starts padding on the spot in sheer delight - we call it her "tiptoe dance" and it is accompanied by a very loud purr!

Her latest litter (October 2010) is two lovely kittens, a boy and a girl, who have nice dark markings and look very promising - we may finally have our wish of a Livvy daughter to keep.

She is Paul's favourite cat, always happy, always purring, and we can't imagine being without her.

Chantina Esmerelda

Silver Egyptian Mau

Sire: Emaus Opening Gambit of Mautrix
Dam: Newkingdom Aida

Ellie joined us at the same time as Nancy and Livvy. She has stunning contrast, and a pretty face, and always attracts admiring looks. She adores water, and it is impossible to use a sink without her dipping her feet in. Given half a chance she stands in it, happy to have the water up to her tummy and will splash about for ages - a very odd girl!

She has given us some gorgeous kittens, including our own Madeline and Grand Premier Aalspotz Krystal. She is very affectionate, and will suddenly climb up my legs and body to give me a "cuddle" - not always welcome if I have thin clothes on!

We are hoping for a litter from Ari and Ellie early in 2011.

As our 2 queens are not getting any younger, and will be retiring in the next year or two, it was time we kept some daughters to replace them. The following 3 girls will take over from their parents in 2012.

Champion Aalspotz Madeline

Silver Egyptian Mau

Sire:TICA Triple Grand Champion Pollystar Arethusa
Dam: Chantina Esmerelda

Maddie is the daughter of Ellie and Ari, and is the girl we've been waiting for. She is so pretty, having very dark spotting and excellent contrast. Her spine line is clearing well, and her eyes are slowly turning green. She is more like her mother in character, enjoying a rough game and a mad chase around the house. Maddie is very sociable, greeting all visitors like the Ocicats do, and certainly has the "wow" factor - everyone wants to take her home!

She went to the GCCF Humberside Show in July 2010, at the age of 5 months, and thoroughly enjoyed herself, winning her Open, Best of Breed, and being placed in all her side classes. The judge's critique was very good, so I am looking forward to many shows with her in the future. At the TICA show at Elsecar in November Maddie took Best of Breed in all 6 rings, and also won 9th Best Allbreed Cat in one of the finals, making her a Champion at the age of 8 months! Maddie was the Best Egyptian Mau in Western Europe in the 2010/11 show season!

I will have to take her to an outside stud when she is older, as Ari is her dad - but am already excited about the kittens she may produce. She is a very special kitten, with a beautiful face, and I still can't believe how lucky I am to have her!

Aalspotz Abigail

Silver Egyptian Mau

Sire:TICA Triple Grand Champion Pollystar Arethusa
Dam: Aalspotz Fancy Free

Abi is the daughter of PG and Ari, and is a very pretty girl. She has nice dark spotting and excellent contrast. Her eyes are slowly turning green. She is very affectionate, jumping on your knee the minute you sit down, wrapping herself around you, purring loudly. Abi is very sociable, and certainly has the "wow" factor - she was originally booked as a breeding queen; luckily for us the couple saw her in the "fuzzies" and decided she was not "good enough", so we were able to keep her ourselves!

She will be appearing on the showbench in the near future, and I think she will really enjoy it. She is a lovely addition to our Mau family.

Aalspotz Memphiz

Silver Egyptian Mau

Sire:TICA Triple Grand Champion Pollystar Arethusa
Dam: Newkingdom Livia

Phiz is the daughter of Livvy and Ari, our little miracle. Livvy has never had an easy time getting pregnant and having kittens, so she was due to be spayed. However, she decided she was desperate for one last attempt, and even "escaped" into the garden twice to run up to the cattery where Ari lives. I listened to her and gave her a chance - she produced 2 beautiful kittens, one of which was Phiz. She is the image of her mother, but hopefully she will have better contrast. Her eyes are already green, and she has a lovely face. She is very affectionate, a gentle girl like her mum, and prefers playing with people to joining in the rough games with the other cats.

Phiz went to the Short Haired Cat Show in January 2011, at the age of 15 weeks. She won her Open and Best of Breed, as well as taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd in her 3 miscellaneous classes - a good start for one so young!

I am going to have to find myself a new stud boy with these three lovely kittens - the search is on!
